Centre Point CSR for World No Tobacco Day[/caption] Everyone knows that smoking tobacco is bad for their health and the health of those around them. Smoking is one of the leading causes of serious disease and premature death, cutting short the lives of millions of people around the world every year. Centre Point is concerned about the effects of tobacco consumption on our society and hopes that all our guests understand the harmful effects of smoking on themselves, their families and friends, and their fellow guests. Because we care about you and your health, we hope that all our guests celebrate World No Tobacco Day 2015 with us by saying No to cigarettes and all other forms of tobacco.
World No Tobacco Day 2015 May 31st marks the World Health Organisations annual World No Tobacco Day. This is a very important day that highlights the health risks that are widely and irrefutably associated with smoking and tobacco use, and also advocates the introduction of policies by government and private organisations that effectively reduce tobacco consumption. Thailand currently has more than 11.5 smokers, with more than 100,000 people taking up the habit every year. The Thai government is in the process of introducing new legislation that will make the purchase of cigarettes and tobacco products more difficult, including banning the sale of single cigarettes and raising the minimum age to buy tobacco products to 20 years. We wholeheartedly support these measures because we believe that everyone should enjoy good health and wellbeing. Centre Point believes in the importance of policies that reduce the consumption of tobacco products. For this reason and many others, we are currently in the process of introducing our own no smoking campaign for the improved health and wellbeing of our valued guests from Thailand and around the world.
Centre Points Non-Smoking Room Campaign Centre Point is introducing a non-smoking room campaign to improve the standard of service we provide and to ensure that each and every one of our important guests enjoys their time staying with us as much as we enjoy having you. The first Centre Point hotel to start the campaign will be Centre Point Silom, which is ideally situated on the banks of the beautiful Chao Praya River, the waterway that flows through Bangkok, or the City of Angels, as we lovingly refer to it as. At the present time you can specifically request a non-smoking room or suite when staying at any of our hotels, however, when the non-smoking campaign is fully introduced, all our rooms and suites will be non-smoking. Guests will be able to access smoking areas if they would like to smoke whilst staying with us. Centre Point wishes all our guests “ past, current and future “ happiness and good health, and hopes they celebrate World No Tobacco Day 2015 in Bangkok, or wherever they find themselves on May 31st, 2015. From everyone in the Centre Point team, we hope you will be proud to be a quitter and that you make no butts about it by quitting today!
