Community Malls in Thong Lo

Unlike the mega malls that seem ubiquitous in Bangkok, community malls around Thonglor are a refreshing escape from the sometimes-monotonous, air-conditioned malls of the Central Group or MBK.

The Commons, for example, embraces the climate of Bangkok by providing green spaces and an ‘umbrella-like’ open-air mall that caters to families and others in the area. Around 5 minutes’ walk from our serviced apartments, on the other side of Sukhumvit Soi 55, The Commons has a large rooftop garden where children can play while the adults browse the Plat House florist shop, sound equipment store Mahajak or the variety of bars and restaurants contained within.

72 courtyard is another community mall found in Thong Lo but focuses more on high-end bars and restaurants. You can enjoy beers from around the world while playing a game of beer pong or air hockey at Beer Belly bar. If you prefer to go to a nightclub, lovers of underground EDM will enjoy Beam. Following a Western-style layout and atmosphere, Beam is different from alot of other night clubs in Bangkok. There are also restaurants here such as Hopeland, serving Asian fusion food and Lucky Fish serving Japanese delicacies.

The owners intended the complex to bring people together in the central communal area, and thus is a great place to meet like-minded locals and expats.
