If shopping like a local is a what you prefer then one place you cannot miss is Pratunam’s famous clothing market. The market is relatively spacious but can still get quite crowded depending on the time of day.

At Pratunam market, the atmosphere’s differ between night and day. The morning market usually begin as early as 5 a.m. and is generally a more relaxed atmosphere. It is best to get here early to avoid the heat and crowds which start to grow by 9 a.m. Most of these shops shut before 4 p.m, so it is best to get there before that time for the day market. We recommend carrying a bottle of cold water with you! During the day the market becomes alive with people transporting goods around. This market mainly has stores filled with clothing, but it iis not limited to that. In the evening the feel is different as there are various vendors around the area selling food and other small vendors setting up shops selling souvenirs as well. This market begins after the day market is shut and is open til 2am.

We recommend going on a weekday or early morning on the weekend. Bargaining is welcomed, even expected, as this market targets lower income clothing retailers who buy wholesale. Most of the products here are unbranded and cost very little.
