The Erawan shrine, containing Chidlom’s Four Face Buddha, has many people come every day and offer money, which is used to maintain it as well as it being donated to charities and hospitals in the area.
The Erawan shrine is close to BTS Chidlom and is on the outer wall Grand Hyatt Erawan hotel. The public can offer flowers and wooden elephants to the shrine, sometimes hoping for goodwill upon themselves and loved ones in return. These items are sold just outside the Shrine during the day. People pray to the Hindu Deity Brahma here for everything from the health of a child to luck in the lottery.
The shrine is has a large number of worshipers from the time it opens till the closing time. It is also believed that once your wish is fulfilled you must return and offer thanks to the four faced Buddha or bad luck will befall you, which is maybe why it gets quite busy!
During the day, at certain times, there are traditional Thai dances being performed. This is truly a beautiful shrine with rich history making it a nice place to visit and pay your respects to the 4 faced Buddha housed within.
